Sustainability
We all want to do better.
Here’s what we’re doing to make less of an impact
Eco-friendly materials
Many of our materials are sustainably sourced and made from recycled materials.
Laminates:
Laminates are made by placing a decorative sheet on top of a core material made up of wood/paper fibers which is often made with recycled content and from sustainably managed forests, making it one of the more eco-friendly building materials.
Fabrics:
All our standard fabrics are all made by Guilford of Maine with recycled materials and sustainable manufacturing practices.
Clean Impact Textiles™ Marin, Purpose, and Resolve are made with 100% post consumer recycled ocean plastic and polyester.
Terratex® textiles are made with 100% pre and post consumer recycled polyester.
Furniture Refinishing
Many components of commercial office furniture can be renewed and reused with a little sanding, painting, and new fabric.
We refinish cubicle panels, metal pedestals, metal file bins, and metal shelving.
Furniture Recycling
We work hard to make sure materials are recycled when possible and we’re looking for ways to improve!
When companies move or upgrade their furniture, much of it gets sent to the landfill.
Before this happens, NW Refinishing and our dealer partners will inspect the inventory to see what can be recycled, what can be renewed in our shop, and finally what needs to go to the landfill.
Waste Stream Managment
We have partnered with Scrap, Creative Reuse in Portland to give leftover panel fabrics another life.
Foam is recycled with agilyx in Tigard, Oregon.
We’re actively looking for reuse/recycling options for laminate waste- if you can help, please reach out!
